Behind the Dust: Why One Swell Ride is More Than Just a SxS Rally

If you stepped outside in Emery County last month, you heard the unmistakable rumble of engines and saw trails lined with dust, powerful machines, and some of the most beautiful country in the West. Riders from all over gathered to explore this remarkable corner of Utah together, creating an unforgettable weekend at the inaugural One Swell Ride UTV Rally.
On the surface, the event looked like a highly successful Side-by-Side (SxS) rally. It was fast-paced, scenic, and undeniably a whole lot of fun. But from day one, the vision behind this gathering was much bigger than a single weekend of riding.
Connection Was Carved on the Trail
There is a unique magic that happens when people swap asphalt for dirt. Outdoor adventure creates a raw type of human connection that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else. Out on the trails, people talked differently. Walls came down. Longtime riders and newcomers alike stepped up to help one another through the technically difficult sections, and everyone shared a laugh about the inevitable wrong turns.
Together, groups hit the brakes to take in vast, stunning views across the San Rafael Swell and the alpine heights of the Manti-La Sal Mountains—vistas many had never discovered before. The riders out there weren't just logging miles; they were creating stories that they will continue to tell long after the dust settles.
The Road Ahead: Adventure for Everyone
While this rally was a beautiful first chapter, it did something much bigger: it set the foundation for a lasting impact. The long-term vision is to systematically grow One Swell Ride into a powerful platform that serves veterans and individuals with disabilities or special needs. The ultimate goal is to break down barriers, creating open access to high-adrenaline, meaningful outdoor adventures for people who might otherwise never get the opportunity to experience them.
A massive thank you goes out to everyone who showed up to make this vision a reality—every local partner who backed the event, and every single rider who brought their energy to the trails of Swell Retreat.
This was the first One Swell Ride, but the journey is only getting started.
